TURNING A MOVIE INTO A MOVEMENT….
The Great American Outing is a three-week road trip aimed at eradicating misconceptions about the Bible’s stance on homosexuality by offering free screenings of the film FISH OUT OF WATER. Launching in the summer of 2010, the tour will make 15 stops throughout the south and midwest offering free screenings and panel discussions.
FISH OUT OF WATER explores the seven Bible passages notoriously used to condemn homosexuality and justify marriage discrimination. The intellectually condensed, genre-bending documentary is a mixture of animation, LGBTQ community interviews and scholarly analysis from theologians across the country.
Our mission is to provide the LGBTQ community and allies a safe forum to express themselves, ask questions and learn. We hope the forum will begin healing LGBTQ community members who have been diminished by biblical abuse. We offer education and hope to empower the LGBTQ community and allies to disarm bigotry and religious-fueled condemnation and begin a campaign to open hearts, open minds and open doors.
