Join Fish out of Water’s National Day of Silence Campaign!

On April 15th, Fish out of Water’s tour, the Great American Outing will be hosting donation based screenings around the country. This is an awesome opportunity to see a film that speaks to the very subject that has kept so many in our own community, as well as leaders in faith based communities silent for so long.

Fish out of Water was crafted to be a toolbox to help the LGBTQ community and their allies combat Bible based discrimination. As you know, the Bible is the primary fuel for anti-gay arguments. Whether someone is gay or straight, religious or nonreligious, very few people are able to articulate what the Bible really says about homosexuality. Fish out of Water serves is a useful, entertaining tool that helps people breach the conversation of the Bible, in an inclusive, non-hostile, accessible way.

Taking part in our National Day of Silence events will connect you with community members who have a common interest in combating bible based abuse and inequality, while helping ensure the success of The Great American Outing.

The Producers of The Great American Outing at the Prop 8 Trial

We’re so excited to report that the producers of THE GREAT AMERICAN OUTING were captured protesting at the Prop 8 Trial yesterday morning. Their photo has been printed everywhere from the Wall Street Journal to MSNBC! We’re so proud of our producers and their activism…both personally and professionally!

We are looking for local Field Producers!

The Great American Outing is looking for 14 field producers to help us coordinate our screenings in each city on our tour.

We are excited to announce that we have secured a Field Producer for Little Rock, Arkansas! Amy Ballard will be spearheading all coordinating efforts for our Arkansas screening.

We need to find thirteen more people. If you live in Dallas, Oklahoma City, Jackson, Birmingham, Nashville, Atlanta, Asheville, Charleston, Louisville, St. Louis, Des Moines, Lincoln or Kansas City – we NEED you to help make our tour a success.

It takes a village to turn a movie into a movement. Join us!

The Great American Outing Announces Core Staff

Elizabeth Chase of Los Angeles California will be producing The Great American Outing. When Director Ky Dickens was in Los Angeles for the world premiere of Fish out of Water, she met Chase and they immediately formed a professional bond that has manifested into the film’s 2010 summer tour.

Also joining the tour will be tour coordinators Kate Baldridge of Los Angeles and Ryan Endress of Chicago.

Of course, the Fish out of Water production team is NOT sitting this one out! Co-producer, Kristen Kaza, will be acting as the tour’s publicity chairperson and the director of Fish out of Water, Ky Dickens, will be partnering with Elizabeth Chase to make the tour a rolling success. The film’s other producer, Fawzia Mirza will be assisting with grant writing and business management.

And finally, the Great American Outing is excited to announce our most recent hires: Marcea Brown and Kira Woods. These amazing women will be the tour’s support staff!
